Youth Empowerment Services (YES) is the children’s mental health system of care in Idaho that helps families access services and supports for their children with serious emotional disturbance (SED). The YES system of care also creates meaningful partnerships between families, youth, providers, and public agencies to address the youth’s specific needs and help them function better at home, in school, and in the community.

The YES system of care is not limited to one agency or one program.  It includes many organizations, individuals, and child-serving agencies working together to help youth and families access mental health assessments, use the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) tool, create Child and Family Teams (CFTs), develop coordinated care plans, and then access appropriate mental health services and supports.

As community members interact with youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED), those who serve children – from school counselors to primary health providers and other child-serving agencies – have an opportunity to engage families and help them access the YES system of care.
